UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Okemos went into halftime with a 2 -1 lead over Haslett. But coming out of the half, ball control was the story of the evening for the Chieftains. Giving Haslett very little opportunity on the offensive, Okemos would make it 3 - 1 with a long pass from just inside midfield that would soar into the box and find its way in the back of the net off of an Okemos striker's out-of-midair kick.
From that point on, Okemos would play a holding game, while still keeping the ball in their offensive zone, and sharp passing kept Haslett from making a comeback.
The nail in the coffin for Haslett came from a defensive breakdown that allowed an Okemos forward to slip past the defender from the sidelines towards the box and find the striker open for a clean pass and an easy chip into the left side of the net.
Okemos will take on Dewitt in the semi-finals on Tuesday, October 9.
