MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Last Friday, people from all over Meridian Township came to celebrate the 4th of July at the Fireworks Celebration.

Crowds gathered around the Meridian Mall and the Municipal Complex as early as 7 p.m. so they could get prime spots for the launch at 10 p.m. Local businesses Meijer, Douglas J Salon and Spa, Meridian Plumbing, Heating,
Cooling and Remodeling, The Hubbard Law Firm PC, WLNS, Culver’s of Okemos, and Meridian
Township all sponsored the event.

Fireworks started going off around 10:20pm, lighting up the sky non stop with reds, whites, and blues. According to LuAnn Maisner, they tried a little something new this year with the fireworks celebration.

"They did such a fantastic job this evening. We use to try to have a show about 17 to 18 minutes and I told them why don't we condense it, make it 15 to 16 minutes, just keep that sky lit up all the time," said Maisner.

Everyone cheered during the grand finale, firework after firework lighting up the night sky, in celebration of the 4th of July and our Independence.
