HASLETT - Ralya Elementary School hosted their 4th annual Race for Ralya Sunday. Students and family members came out to run or walk and support the fundraiser.
Staff members started by getting the students hyped up in the spring with sponsorship, and putting the kids' names on the back of their shirts. The students have the option to participate in the school's mileage club in the spring where they prepare for the race. All proceeds benefit the students and go to school expenses, primarily new technology.
Sonia Lerch, Secretary at Ralya Elementary said, "Last year, we bought a class set of iPads so they kind of travel around the school whenever classrooms need it. It's worked wonderfully so we kind of think we're going to do something very similar again this year."
Out of all four years, this race had the best turn out with around 450 participants and supporters.
Whether Ralya surpassed their fundraising goal is to be determined.
