OKEMOS, MI - Local businesses, crafters, and musicians gathered on Hamilton and Okemos roads to highlight the many features that downtown Okemos has to offer on Thursday, June 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
At the 4th annual event, Domino's Pizza handed out pizza by-the-slice, The Traveler's Club and Sip N' Snack offered specials, while The Okemos Masons served pulled pork barbecue sandwiches.
"It's really unbelievable," said John Pulice, Okemos Masons Pork Chef. "I want to thank the whole downtown Okemos community, they've really been supportive and it's been a much better event than I expected."
The main entertainment stage, sponsored by Healthy and Fit Magazine featured the regional band “Global Village", where spectators enjoyed the three piece horn section and powerful vocals. Additionally a flash mob broke out at this years 'Celebrate Downtown Okemos' event.
"The music is great, and it's a lot of fun out here tonight," said Jason, Okemos Resident & Spectator. "It's my first time being out here and they have a good mix of older stuff and newer stuff, and they keep the action going... it's a lot of fun."
Music was also played by local musicians from Okemos High School, Chippewa Middle School and the Meridian Community Band in front of the sculptures in downtown Okemos.
Approximately 2,000 people attended this year's event.
