MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Business is booming in Meridian Township as many more new businesses are calling the area home.
This year alone 33 new businesses have moved to the township and have remained open.
Many are not only new to the Township but are completely new businesses.
With entrepreneurs starting their own businesses or even opening a new successful franchise.
Peter Menser, Associate Planning at the Township had this to say about the uptick in new businesses, "Its a really good sign. We have had very positive comments from everybody this year that has open businesses. Terms of getting them in and out through our process as fast as possible, painless as possible and I hope this trend continues."
Some of the new businesses that have been approved this month are Farm Fresh Seafood, which will be a sea food deli; Massage Bliss: a massage studio, Fit Body Boot Camp, FlagStar Bank and The Children's Enrichment Center.
Each month the Township sees an average of 6 to 7 different new businesses applications.
This helps the Township have a very diverse service based economy.
"I think its just going to keep up, its really good news. Since this year we have had over 100,000 square feet of occupied, new occupied space," said Menser.
As more and more new businesses come into the area store fronts continue to fill up. Bringing the Township closer to 100% occupancy.
"They look at this area and they see a highly educated work force. They see a major nationally recognized University, great High Schools, great places to live and they know this is a great place to start a business," said Menser.
