HASLETT - The Haslett Robotics Club has been around since 2008 and started out with two teams. This past season, the Haslett Robotics Club ended with 21 teams. While the teams are consisted of Haslett kids, the Head Coach stated that 60 percent of the kids are from Okemos.
The Club has also encouraged girls to join and forty percent of coaches are women.
At the June 4 Meridian Township Board Meeting, a group called Controlled By Squirrels, comprised of five boys, each in seventh grade spoke about how long they have been in Robotics and were really excited to share some major accomplishments from this past season.
This included winning a teamwork award in a regional tournament in Charlotte and a skills award for best autonomous program at a Haslett High School Regional Tournament.
The Club also advanced to another State Tournament in Charlotte and later to the US Opens and World Championships of Robotics.
The Robotics Club looks forward to learning more and making great accomplishments! The club now meets at Haslett High School.
