MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A $5,000 grant has been offered to Meridian Township from ITC to replace trees throughout the Township.
According to the Meridian Township Community Planning & Development Director, Mark Kieselbach, ITC maintains and owns the high tension lines that run through the Township.
ITC has a program for local municipalities where they offer a $5,000 grant to help replace trees that have been removed from the Township.
This could benefit community parks, commons areas in neighborhoods and could help remove tree stumps.
Meridian Township Clerk Dreyfus moved to accept the $5,000 grant from ITC. This motion was supported by Trustee Scales.
"It obviously is clear, we're going to get $5,000 to do what we all love in the township which is to replace or plant trees that have actually been removed so this is great, lets get on with it," said Dreyfus.
The Township Board voted 6 to 0 to accept the $5,000 grant from ITC so the township can replace trees.
