PNC Bank Robbery Suspect Identified

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The suspect identified as 43-year old Michael Willingham of Flint revealed a weapon, believed to be a hand gun, in PNC Bank on Grand River Avenue in Okemos where he left in his car with an undisclosed amount of money on Monday, March 3rd around 2:15 p.m.

Meridian Township Police officers chased Willingham's vehicle down Marsh Road.

Other area police agencies continued to follow him on I-69 where he later drove off the road in Shiawassee County and ran on foot into the woods.

Willingham was later found dead in a deer blind where they believe he committed suicide.

According to Meridian Township Police Lieutenant Greg Frenger, Willingham had a criminal history and had spent time in prison.

The money taken from the bank was recovered from his vehicle.

The Meridian Township Police Department, Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office and the FBI are now investigating if Willingham was involved in any other area bank robberies.
