OKEMOS - More intense road work on the Okemos Road and Jolly Road intersection is set to begin soon, according to the Ingham County Road Department.
Due to inclement weather, the major traffic shifts have been postponed from the original schedule of April 2nd to the week of April 9th. Those traffic shifts are dependent on weather as the Ingham County Road Department needs dry weather to paint the temporary lane lines.
On Monday, April 9th Jolly Road will be shifted into the southern eastbound lands. Around April 11th, Okemos Road will be shifted into the eastern northbound lanes.
There will only be one lane of traffic in both directions. Turning at the intersection during this period of time will not be allowed.
There are detours currently in place for drivers to avoid traffic and construction and alternative routes are advised. The Department says there will be delays and congestion so they suggest giving yourself extra travel time.
No parking signs will also be installed along Jolly Oak in both directions and no turn restrictions will be in place for Jolly Road as well.
The work will continue through the duration of spring and summer. Construction is expected to be completed by Labor Day.
