HASLETT - The Dart Foundation awarded $124,865 to Haslett Public Schools to support the district's "Equipping Students with Future Ready Skills" initiative. The funds will be used to enhance 16 classrooms within the district with Chromebook carts for the purpose of increasing student engagement and achievement.
A total of 483 Chromebooks will be purchased allowing teachers to implement 21st Century teaching strategies across the curriculum and engage students in a variety of ways.
The funds will also equip a robotics lab at Haslett Middle School, allowing students to develop teamwork skills and apply their creative ideas.
Emily L. Matthews, Dart Foundation Manager, presented the check to the district at its February 12 Board of Education meeting. The Dart Foundation is a private family foundation established by Dart Container Corporation founder William A. Dart and his wife Claire T. Dart. The Foundation supports projects that enhance education, especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math, and those that improve the quality of life in specific communities, including Haslett and the surrounding area.
