MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the September 16th Township Board meeting, the Board held a Truth-In-Taxation Public Hearing.
The hearing is a requirement by state law and encourages transparency from board members to residents regarding Township spending.
During the hearing, board members spoke to David Lee, the Township Assessor, about what this means for residents.
Lee explained how much residents can expect to be taxed in the upcoming year.
"So at tonight's meeting we passed a resolution that stipulates exactly what our millage rates are for folks in Meridian Township," said Julie Brixie, Township Treasurer. "And as many people are no doubt aware, voters did approve an increase for our parks millage and that was included in the Truth-In-Taxation hearing."
Brixie said that other than the Park Millage renewal increase, which was agreed upon by voters, all other taxes will be the same.
