UPDATE:
OKEMOS - It was a crosstown showdown last Tuesday night between the Okemos Chieftons and the Haslett Vikings.
Okemos struck early finding the back of the net, but it was called back for an illegal stick.
With three minutes left in the first half the vikings snuck it past the cheiftains keeper taking a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
Things got heated quickely in the second half, as the vikings Aaron Baetz brought the ball up the center, passing off to Noah taylor for the finish.
Okemos answered, finally getting on the score board. And then again up the center the chieftains fired it in tieing up the game.
But, that just got the vikings upset. they turned up the heat and the cheiftains got out the kitchen. Haslett popped not one, not two, not three, but four unanswerd goals.
The game ended at 6-3, making history, giving Haslett its first victory ever against okemos.
Brandon Schwind, Haslett Varsity Lacrosse head coach, said, “I think both teams started off real slow. That’s the game of lacrosse, the ebbs and flows we talk about all the time. I was proud of the guys stickin one early in the first half. Then we came out in the second half, had a great third quarter and I think that’s what propelled us on to the fourth and onto the victory here.”
“We just wanna get better. We’re getting better everyday. It was a tough loss today, but I think we have a lot to improve on. The defense played outstanding today. So, we just wanna improve everyday, every practice, every game and see how far we can go in the playoffs,” said, Okemos Varsity Lacrosse Captain, Matt Henry.
Okemos players said they’re hoping the vikings don’t win out the rest of their conference games, so they have a chance to win the division.
