LANSING - People dressed in pink with signs of support swarmed to The Rock on Farm Lane to rally for Planned Parenthood on Saturday afternoon.
Organized by MSU students Lauren Lahie, Claire Dion, Kiera Quigley, and Heather Shea, the rally was to show support for Planned Parenthood and women's rights.
Lahie said she hopes people are ready to take action in order to keep Planned Parenthood stores open.
"I'm someone who is very strongly pro-choice. The fact that a bunch or legislators are trying to defund Planned Parenthood is just insane. At Michigan State, specifically, this would be a really big thing if it were to get defunded."
Planned Parenthood Mid-Michigan Community and Online Organizer Lauren Bacans said she is rallying in support of funding for Planned Parenthood.
"There are protests across the nation today calling for the defunding of Planned Parenthood," Bacans said. "All that would do would restrict many people from receiving their basic health care services through programs like Title X or Medicaid reimbursement."
Speakers at the event included Bacans, James Madison Professor Dr. Melissa Fore, and Michigan State Senator Rebekah Warren.
