MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Feb. 5th, Meridian Township Board members voted on the rezoning request of a property on Jolly Road.
Thomas Hitch presented the Board with information of the request on behalf of his clients. The owners no longer live in the Township and have no need for the jolly place they once called home.
The rezoning called for the land, almost three acres, to be changed from Single Family-Medium Density to Professional and Office. The Township Board discussed the rezoning at the Jan. 22 meeting, agreeing to consider a resolution to the rezoning. A request came for more information regarding alternate uses of the property.
At the recent Township Board meeting, Trustee Jackson voiced her reason for approval. "I also plan to support this rezoning," Jackson said. "I raised a question at our last meeting about other possible uses. A professional zoning guy looked at those and has in my own mind satisfied this idea of this rezoning producing a transitional type of use."
The Board voted unanimously to approve the rezoning. The change is believed to be an appropriate transition and a good environmental fix.
