OKEMOS - =What felt like the first official day of fall weather, on homecoming weekend the Okemos Chiefs hosted their second home game of the season against Waverly.
Sept. 21 the Chiefs faced off against Grand Ledge on their brand new turf field, fast forward a week later and they would celebrate their second win in their new facility.
“I think the kids take a lot of pride in their field, they take a lot of pride in playing at home. We had four in a row on the road and to come back home try to build a winning streak on our home field that's one of their goals,” said Head Coach, Mike Krumm.
The Chiefs who are currently 4-2 under their new head coach showed a new consistency after their victory against the Grand Ledge Comments last weekend.
Chase Conrad had a huge night for the Okemos Offense setting the tone early, and the Okemos defense once again holding Waverly to only a touchdown before the half.
With 7:36 left in the 3rd quarter Jason Richardson, would have a 10 yard completion from Mason Kacmarek, then Chase Conrad would come up strong again with putting the Chiefs ahead 35 to 7.
“Hopefully we can keep playing our game, and our brand of football, and hopefully talking about the playoffs down the road. But we’ve gotta keep playing one game at a time, this is a tough conference,” said Krumm.
The Chiefs would finish this one with a final score of 35 to 13.
