OKEMOS, MI - Community Members came together for an annual picnic in Briarwood subdivision in Okemos.
The picnic is a tradition for the community, that has been happening for other 30 years says Briarwood Home Owner's Association President Peter Trezise. Food, fun and face painting were all apart of the event as kids enjoyed themselves among friends, some old and some new.
And while the event had a big turn out, Event Chair Jean Zwier stated that something like this takes a lot of planning and preparation, she says that "Many hands make light work".
Meridian Township Fire Department joined in on the fun as they greeted the community members and handed out special souvenir Fire Department hats to the kids.
10 Okemos High School students were also in attendance as they helped the picnic flow smoothly. Those students helped serve food, did face painting and facilitated a fun game of "hit the pinata".
Briarwood consists of 406 single family homes.
