MERIDIAN TWP. - A new authority is working to improve the corridor along Grand River Avenue in Meridian Township. The Corridor Improvement Authority (CIA) was established by a resolution from the Township Board last April. The CIA has a mix of 5 to 9 residents, property owners, business owners and interested owners that fall within the CIA boundary and is lead by Township Supervisor Ronald J. Styka.
Business owner Chris Nugent is the CIA Chair and explained why he wanted to become a apart of the CIA. “I think it’s really important for businesses along the corridor to be part of the solution, to make Grand River more inviting. Both for residents and people coming into our communities,” said Nugent.
Earlier this month the CIA held their first meeting at Central Fire Station. Meetings are scheduled to take place every third Wednesday of the month at 6 pm. Locations and Agendas for the meetings will be posted on Meridian Township’s website. CIA meetings are open to the public and CIA Chair Chris Nugent welcomes community members to come and get to know the authority. Nugent said he wants people to feel comfortable voicing their ideas and concerns with the board members in and outside of the meetings.
The CIA boundary lies on Grand River at Cornell Road and ends just before Hagadorn Road.
