UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Township Board recently met and discussed issues on maintaing sidewalks.
The Township reviews sidewalks there were disrupted from weather or natural causes, and notifies residents about estimated costs for repairs. Residents then have 20 days, from the date of notification, to repair the sidewalk. If repairs have not been completed, the Township will proceed with the work and determine the cost in agreement with the district.
The Director of Public Works and Engineering, Raymond Severy explained one of the reasons they do this is to make sure the sidewalks are in safe condition for people with wheel chair.
If residents choose to pay the Township, they will be billed in 2013 and have 5 years to pay the estimated cost.
