LANSING - Cops from all over the county were out Saturday morning, and all for a good cause.
With the holiday season in the air, these cops work every year to give back to the children of the community with the Shop With a Cop event.
"This is our 13th year. The idea behind it was to pair up police officers with kids who have financial or emotional needs" said co-coordinator, Heidi Williams.
This year's event had 102 kids. Each kid gets $100 to spend however they'd like to at Walmart, along with the chance to see Santa and tell him what they want.
From board games to skateboards, kids were buying things for themselves, as well as gifts for their families.
Not only was this year's event fully funded, but next year's is as well.
According to Sgt. Rick Grillo, fundraising goes on all year, just for this event.
Shop With a Cop is funded through their charity golf outing, private community donations and even donations directly from the cops.
"I think this shows the community that law enforcement is good. They are here to help protect and serve," said Williams.
