LANSING - Thursday, June 23, kicked off a 4-game series with the Lansing Lugnuts and West Michigan Whitecaps. West Michigan is up by one in the top of the fourth, but it's not too long until the Lugnuts fire back. In the bottom of the fifth, Justin Atkinson up to bat and he nails a solo home run to center field to tie the game at one's.
And in the bottom of the seventh, the Lugnuts seal the deal with three runs. RBIs from Josh Almonte, Carl Wise and Ryan Metzler allowed a 4 to 1 lead for the Lugnuts.
Pitcher Ryan Borucki struck out eight batters in eight innings, and the Lansing Lugnuts won this one 5 to 1 over the Whitecaps.
