MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - If approved a new and highly desired fast food restaurant will be constructed in front of Meijer.

On January 11th the Planning Commission approved a special use permit to construct a Chick-Fil-A.

Chick-Fil-A applied for a site plan review which is a process where their site plan is reviewed in detail.

If they meet the provisions of Meridian Township's zoning code they can then apply for a building permit.

Chick-Fil-A was founded in Atlanta in 1967 and there are only two in Michigan. The closest one is 61 miles away in Rochester, Michigan.

Community members have expressed excitement that Okemos will be home to the 3rd Chick-Fil-A in Michigan.
