LANSING - Wednesday night the Lansing Lugnuts were supposed to begin their season against Michigan State in the "Crosstown Showdown", but rain showered the stands and postponed the game. Thursday and Friday night that rain turned into snow, and each Lugnuts meeting with the Great Lakes Loons was a no-go.

Returning home Monday night, the Lugnuts were welcomed to 44 degrees, hardly baseball weather, but with clear skies this would have to do. The Lugnuts (1-1) did not mind, landing its first win on the season over the Dayton Dragons, 6-4, with a two-run eighth inning.

Lansing commanded a, 4-2, lead until the top of the eighth when Dayton second baseman Shedric Long blasted a two-run shot to right field, his second on the young season.

The Lugnuts wasted little time in responding as center fielder Lance Thomas led off the bottom of the eighth with a double. Cleanup hitter Justin Atkinson drove in the go-ahead run on the very next at-bat with a double of his own.
