MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The request to construct a 67,000 square foot Courtyard by Marriott to be located at the southwest corner of Jolly Oak Road and Meridian Crossing
Drive was approved at the March 15 Township Board meeting.

Meridian Township Treasurer Julie Brixie believes that the athletics at Michigan State University brings in an abundance of visitors. However there are so few hotels to house them.

"The community needs more hotels," Brixie said.

After a traffic study results showed that the level of service had little change.

The Ingham County Road Department reviewed the traffic study and did not express any concerns in their review.

As a result of the clear need for more hotels and few concerns with the placing of Marriott Hotel the Board saw fit to approve the special use permit.
