MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Drivers may be disappointed to hear that the Okemos Road outer lane closure on the bridge over the Red Cedar River is still in place.
After a confirmed email from Ingham County Road Department, Managing Director Bill Conkin stated the lane closure will more than likely continue into April 2016.
"Construction with necessary somewhat warmer weather for concrete repair work, the lane closure will likely continue to, or into, April depending on how early warmer spring weather arrives. The lane would then be re-opened."
Vivian Dwyer, Arty Party Studio Owner on Okemos Road says there are pros and cons with the construction affecting her business, "On the good end, I have people sitting in traffic looking in and seeing my store who's never seen it before, so that's the one good thing about it. The bad obviously people are going to avoid the area."
Beam painting to the bridge must be done, however it must occur in the hot, dry summer months, meaning a lane may need to be re-closed about a week to possibly park painting equipment, unless the painting can be done by parking equipment in Wonch Park.
Once the design of the repairs are complete, construction will begin.
