OKEMOS - If you're out shopping for the holidays, or maybe even getting a new haircut, you may have noticed some familiar boxes greeting you at your favorite store.
Meridian Township along with some local retail stores are once again participating in at least one of three different charity donations, including Be a Santa to a Senior, Saint Luke Lutheran Church Coat Collection and Toys for Tots.
Patricia Bellingar, owner of Shear Reflections Hair Design in Okemos, says this is their first year participating in the Toys for Tots program and that it's important for people to give back during the holidays.
"I think there's a lot of kids and it's unfortunate that some of them don't get gifts and have the fun of getting something on Christmas Day. (It's) just a nice surprise (for them) and a good feeling for us to be able to help," said Bellingar.
Bellingar says donation drop offs at Shear Reflections will be available until December 8th.
Other participating locations in Meridian Township include the Township Municipal Building, Okemos Walmart, and Schuler's Books in the Meridian Mall.
