MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Tuesday, November 10 the discussion of the Central Park Master Plan took place during the Meridian Township Park Commission meeting.

This comprehensive plan involves a guide for renovations and developments in the future.

At the meeting, it was requested for the Park Commission to adopt the plan after details were talked about further.

Central Park is approximately 279 acres which includes the Meridian Historical Village, the Township Municipal Building, and the Meridian Farmers Market area as well.

"We've had stakeholder meetings, there were interviews with park commissioners, interviews with staff, board and commission members, local businesses because the park is more about the park itself...we have neighbors around us that engage with us..what does that mean to the park? What does the park mean to them...SO all of those things kinda went into the design of the park," stated Meridian Township Director of Parks & Recreation LuAnn Maisner.

Maisner continued mentioning what thoughts were brought into discussion when deciding on the plan for redeveloping the park.

"The plan was how do we create an identity? How do we create universal access throughout the park? And how do we create a destination..a park that's in the center of our community that people really can embrace?"

After all was said and done, Park Commissioner Philip Deschaine spoke up.

"I'm very excited about the plan, I think the whole commission is and so with great excitement, I move that we adopt the Central Park Master Plan as presented."

The Park Commission agreed and came to a consensus to move and support as well as implement the Central Park Master Plan.
