OKEMOS - Head Coach Darus Ward and Kailey Peterson talk about how the Okemos varsity girl's soccer team is one big family. Peterson said she is very excited to teach the freshman all about the soccer program and what being a good teammate entails.

The team focuses on being a possession oriented team on the field and a scholarly focused team off the field. Several girls on the team are take 2 to 3 AP classes during the soccer season. Family is very important to Head Coach Darus Ward, last season the girls were very close.

"Chemistry on and off the court is huge for girl's soccer, being the Coach for the Haslett boys team and also the coach of the Okemos girls team teaches me how important relationships on the girls team really is," said Darus Ward.

And as of last season the team had 6 juniors, meaning and hoping that the 6 will stick around for their season, one of them being Kailey Peterson.
