OKEMOS - "A Cappella Boot Camp" took place on October 27th, at the Okemos Community Church building. It was a welcoming event for the new members of Water Wonderland Chorus.
Water Wonderland Chorus is the Lansing area chapter of Sweet Adelines International and Grand Prize Winner of Williamston's 2013 Gingerbread Jamboree. It is a worldwide musical organization of women four-part harmony that perform a-cappella and barber-shop style music.
"A Cappella Boot Camp is an outreach to help the community to be aware of what barber-shop harmony is, and what Sweet Adelines International is about. We would like to people to understand that this is one of the true American art forms of music that was born here in this country," said Merry Lu Jordan, the Musical Director of Water Wonderland Chorus.
Water Wonderland Chorus is always welcoming new members. All female residents are invited to join and participate, and they do not need to know how to read music. The practice sessions will take place every Tuesdays, and there will be teaching of short songs and tags.
