MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - In Meridian Township, Residential Building Permits are needed before any work begins on a residential project.
According to Meridian Township Associate Planner, Peter Menser, "There is total of 14 million dollars for the year so everything submitted from January to September is construction value."
Construction value is all of the fees associated with the cost of construction.
"At the end of last quarter there was a total of 12 million, so a lot of big projects have come in over the last 3 months," stated Menser.
At the end of September, there were a lot of big commercial projects .
Some of those projects include:
• Interior Build Out of Whole Foods ( Open 2016)
• Kroger Gas Station on Marsh Road
• Jimmy John's under construction
• Gilden Woods Day Care Center
• Redevelopment of Law Firm
On the residential side, there has been 5 new houses built in September and 50 houses this year.
"Meridian Township is special because it continues to have new houses built," acknowledges Menser.
Right now Meridian Township has double the residential projects to commercial projects.
Commercial projects are usually submitted in spring and residential poojects are year round.
Numbers now :
14 million dollars in Residential
7 million dollars in Commercial
