DEWITT - The Dewitt Cheer Team has been invited to participate in the 39th annual "All Japan High School Cultural Festival". The festival takes place in Otsu which is the capital city of Shiga. Shiga is one of forty-seven prefectures or states that rotate host duties from year to year.
Dewitt already has a very strong exchange and Japanese program in place. One of the benefits of being such a worldly academic place is that you not only expand your culture, you expand your connections. This is a big part of why the Dewitt Cheer Team will be heading to Japan this morning (7/21) to put their round three routine on display.
17 girls will make the trip along with two coaches and the High Schools Japanese teacher will act as translator for the group of girls. For the next ten days they will be sightseeing and attending "Ninja Camp", visiting a castle, and of course, sampling some local cuisine.
The girls will be participating in the Opening Ceremony, the Parade, and the event is taking place at the Biwako Hall Performing Arts Center in Otsu.
This year, the girls finished 2nd in the state for division 2 back in March of this spring.
