MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township's own Fire Department was awarded the "Outstanding EMS Agency" of the year award by the Sparrow Health System Emergency Department.
Senator Curtis Hertel Jr. recognized the department and presented a legislative tribute signed by Governor Rick Snyder and State Representative Sam Singh at a recognition ceremony yesterday.
The Fire Department transports nearly 3,000 patients to Sparrow Emergency every year. Hertel thinks the numbers are important but, "what's even more important is the quality, especially in cardiac arrest cases, Meridian Township numbers were wonderful."
In addition to the number of transports, the criteria of the award also included the number of calls, what types of call they were, and the amount of success the agency has had with cardiac arrests.
Hertel also states, "The people of Meridian Township should be really happy with their firefighting team, the paramedics on the team, and the important work that they do."
Congratulations to the Fire Department!
