MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The new Jimmy John's in Meridian Township will be located on Grand River Avenue in front of Meijer.

It will be replacing the Goodyear Tire and will be a two tenant building coupled with a mattress firm.

Jimmy John's went before the Zoning Board of Appeals to request variances for signage. If the variances are approved they will move on to the next steps of the building process.

Associate Planner Peter Menser said, "really the next thing for them to do is to submit for a building permit so I would imagine at this point  they will work on demoing the building this fall and start construction as soon as the weather breaks in 2016."

Currently the closest Jimmy John's is located in East Lansing across from Michigan State University. That being said this Jimmy John's will be convenient for Meridian Township residents.

It will take between 6 to 8 months to complete. Jimmy John's plans to be open by August of 2016.
