MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - 2265 Grand River Avenue is currently occupied by several shops, like Foods For Living, State of Fitness, and the Salvation Army.
Next to these stores is an empty lot with no development. Due to Michigan State University being near by, a proposal of new apartments in this empty lot has been brought to the Meridian Township Board.
The apartments would include 3 buildings, each building will be four stories high with apartments, as well as, a clubhouse and lobby area. Campus Village, who is proposing the project, is a family owned company who work independently with city's and town's all across mid-Michigan.
The apartments would be walking distance from the stores already in this lot and the goals of the creation of these apartments is convenience for the young working class.
The Township Board said they needed more information on this development plan before than can make a decision.
Discussion about this project is expected to continue at the next Township Board meeting on July 21st.
