MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The new Jimmy John's, coming to Meridian Township, was discussed at the recent Zoning Boards of Appeals meeting.

The big topic of discussion involved variances for multiple Jimmy John's signs at the new site.

The main proposal was a request for a Jimmy John's sign that is larger than what the ordinance currently allows.

Zoning Board of Appeals Board Chair, Brian Beauchine is "not in favor of the wall sign at Jimmy John's becoming bigger." Mainly because this would allow for other site owners to oppose the original ordinance and want larger signs.

The Zoning Board of Appeals felt that supporting the ordinance versus the variance for the new sign was in favor of the public interest.

The variance was denied by the board.
