MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Okemos Kroger located at 4884 Marsh Road will have a new gas station by spring 2016. Ground is expected to break at the end of this summer.
A special use permit went through, a site plan review has also been done the last step that needs to be done before breaking ground is to apply for a building permit. This is expected to be submitted within the next month. Once ground is broken building will take approximately 11 weeks.
The gas station will be built between Kroger parking lot and KFC's parking.
Meridian Township's Associate Planner Peter Menser said, "They'll have a 265 square foot transaction kiosk. Basically a box with an employee and an office where you can go up and pay for gasoline. There will also be a limited amount of retail. So you can buy cigarets, soda, candy, the regular staple things along with auto related anti freeze, oil that kind of thing."
There will also be six fueling stations with two pumps on each side. This will not be a 24 hour gas station it's hours will be similar to Kroger store hours.
Kroger is open from 7:00 a.m. to midnight. The gas station may stay open an hour after Kroger closes, but that has not been decided just yet.
