LANSING - "The end of Alzheimer's starts with you," is the slogan for the Alzheimer's Association and the meaning behind their advocacy day.
Nearly 100 members and supports gather at the capital to meet with and encourage their state legislators to support people facing Alzheimer's.
According to the Alzheimer's Association, Alzheimer's is the only disease in the top 10 cause of death that currently has no cure, no prevention, or no treatment.
"So there's not anything we can do other than support people that have the disease and their caregivers. So today we're telling state legislators we need to do just that, we need to provide supportive services for those that care for people with the disease and those that are living with the disease," said Lindsay Brieschke, Director of Public Policy for the Michigan Alzheimer's Association.
The event is free and open to the public, but does require participants to register every year.
Meetings with state legislators took place in the Capitol, the Senate office building, and the House office building.
