LANSING - The Children's Trust Fund recently held their 7th annual prevention awareness rally at the State Capitol.

As a part of child abuse prevention month, the rally's theme was "the power of one", encouraging Michigan residents to get involved. Several speakers addressed the issue and there was even a performance from Lansing Averill Elementary School's Allstar Choir.

"Each year the Michigan Children's Trust Fund uses this time to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child maltreatment in all forms. We all play a role in ensuring our children are safe and protected," said Nick Lyon, Director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

The event concluded with a pinwheel ceremony to show support of child abuse prevention programs in the state. The pinwheel is the national symbol of child abuse and neglect prevention.
