DETROIT - The night after a, 4-2, victory over Michigan, Michigan State would take a, 7-0, lead into the eighth inning against Central Michigan in the second night of the Clash at Comerica.
Scoring two runs in the eighth, the Chippewas would pick up right where they left off in the ninth with an early additional four.
Then, outfielder Nick Reigner dropped a perfectly placed bunt in between third and the pitcher and reached on a single.
The ninth walk issued by the Spartans loaded the bases for freshman Daniel Jipping, and he delivered a game-tying sac fly.
Another base knock later and Junior Morgan Oliver delivered with a game-winning Texas leaguer to right. Central wins, 8-7, delivering a six-run ninth inning.
"I need to apologize to all of the Michigan State fans that were here tonight because that is unacceptable on our part," Michigan State coach Jake Boss Jr. said.
"There is a difference between wanting to win and hoping to win, and it looked like we were hoping to win in the ninth."
The Chippewas sit pretty with a 25-12 record after this one, while Michigan State falls to 19-6 on the season.
