MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Michigan Children's Author Kelly DiPucchio visited Bennett Woods Elementary on Tuesday, March 24th.
DiPucchio's visit was the last of her scheduled visits to Okemos elementary schools as part of Author visit program and Reading Month. For the 7th year in a row the Okemos Education Foundation (OEF) and Horizon Bank partnered together to co-sponsor the program.
During the visit, DiPucchio started with a presentation for the kindergarten and 1st grade students. She talked about how she gets ideas for her books and the process of getting them published. The students also got to enjoy listening to DiPucchio read them two stories.
DiPucchio also gave the students a lesson on following this dreams. She shared her story about the six-year-long journey of rejections she endured before having her first book published.
Today, DiPucchio is an award-winning author of several children's books.
After the event, a few students had the opportunity to talk one-on-one with DiPucchio while having their books signed before the next group of students entered for their presentation.
