OKEMOS - The Okemos D withered down Waverly to its season-low points total in a, 44-33, toppling in the first round of the MHSAA Class A, District 3 playoffs.
Along with a suffocating defensive performance, something the Chiefs are becoming known for, Okemos was aided again by the sensational play of senior captain Conner George. Simply put, George is the do-it-all forward that has done it all for Okemos all year. The sharp-shooter has dropped dazzling dimes, crashed the boards and made game-winning shots, officially eliminating "inconceivable" from Webster's.
Coming into the game, Waverly posed a significant challenge for Okemos. The Warriors had just beaten East Lansing, 64-53, four days prior, something the Chiefs could not do. In fact, East Lansing swept Okemos in a two-game season series this year.
Home-court proved to be a deafening advantage for Okemos in round one, and the boys will get it again this Wednesday, 8pm, against Grand Ledge (19-2) in the District semifinals.
