MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - During the February 23rd Planning Commission meeting, there was a proposal for a new building at the Meridian Mall.
Jeff Kyes was in attendance representing the proposal for CBL Properties.
That building would be located in the southwest corner outlot of Meridian Mall at 1982 Grand River Avenue.
Kyes also proposed removing some trees from the site in order to give drivers a better view of the building from the street.
Although tree removal is not an issue the Planning Commission oversees, they still offered some suggestions in regards to the issue.
Commissioner Thomas Deits went on to say, "What I'm hearing here is a position from the concept of the development that is really not very Meridian Township friendly, and I don't think it has to be done that way. So I'm just going to encourage you to go back and give that some thought."
The location site was formerly Great Lake Federal Savings Bank and so far there is no lead as to what business will occupy the building if the plan is approved in the future.
A public hearing has not been set yet since the project details have not been finalized.
