MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township, Lansing Township, Delhi Township, Delta Township, East Lansing and the City of Lansing have all been a part of the Shared Fire Services Group since 2010.

Recently, one sub group involved with Shared Fire Services was approved for Meridian Township's Fire Department.

Since 2013 the Shared Fire Services Group has been working on the Metro Fire Investigation Team Agreement in order to better assist one another with fire investigations.

Delhi Township's Assistant Chief & Fire Marshall said, "What we're trying to do is build a solid resource of fire investigators in this area so that way everybody can utilize each other and then we are all on the same page on how we conduct the investigations, how we're going to document, how were' going to proceed with the collecting evidence those types of things, as far as bring everybody together."

Five of the six agencies we're approved for the Metro Fire Investigation Team, while Meridian was last to receive their verdict.

During the Township Board meeting in Meridian on Tuesday Feb. 3, the Township Board approved Meridian's Metro Fire Investigation Team with a unanimous 7-0 vote.
