OKEMOS - Okemos started a flurry of scoring early and didn't let up.
Their chippy play didn't let up, either.
Okemos scored three times in eight minutes in the first period and never looked back, dominating the Pinckney Pirates 8-2 at Suburban Ice on Saturday night.
Their tough physical play on the boards combined with multiple Pinckney turnovers in the zone led to scoring chances often for the Chieftains. Shots at the end of the contest were tallied at 44-27 in favor of Okemos.
Rough play came with a price, as both teams saw men in the penalty box for much of the second period. Pinckney got on the board in the second period with a power play goal, but it was a small dent in the 5-1 advantage gathered by Okemos.
The Chieftains tacked on two more goals in the third for a 8-2 final score. Notable players for the Chiefs included Cooper Anderson, the right winger who notched two Okemos scores in the second. The team moves to 4-2 on the season and takes on Portage Northern High School on Friday, Dec. 12.
