LANSING TOWNSHIP - Lansing Sexton hosted Richmond in the quarterfinals of Michigan's Division IV Football Playoffs.

Without lead tailback Ja'von Wray, Sexton struggled to put points up early on.

Scoreless through much of the first half, Lansing lands the first blow on this 47-yard strike to wide receiver Gavin Hoskins with only a minute left in the second. 7-0, Sexton leading through two.

Sexton quarterback Malik Mack keeps the magic going on another aerial attack, 29 yards to Rayshawn Wilborn. Sexton up, 14-0, as the team warms up to its chilly surroundings.

A 10-yard touchdown run to the house from tailback James Hogan Jr. nearly puts this one out of reach.

Richmond goes for the comeback, but all is lost when cornerback Devin Taylor comes away with a game-clinching interception in the fourth. Taylor strolls 80 yards for the score.

Sexton would throw down 21 points in the fourth quarter, finishing Richmond off, 35-7.

Sexton head coach Dan Boggan and his boys head to the state semis, but coach was none too pleased with his team's slow start.

"We definitely got to get a lot better this next week, and Detroit Country Day is a good football team," Boggan said. "We must play a lot better if we want to get to the state championship."

Sexton plays Detroit Country Day at 1pm this Saturday in Fenton. The winner heads to Ford Field for the state championship.
