MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A healthy alternative to grocery shopping is slowly appearing over the Meridian Township landscape, one brick at a time.
Meridian's Whole Foods, under construction for the past month, is finally showing progress. Complete Enclosure, a Michigan-based construction company, completed the addition of the walls over the past weekend. Supports are currently being used to brace the walls in the event of high winds until they completely set.
Although the wall has a frame, it may be a while before the building cuts the ribbon. According to Meridian Township's Planning Department, the only permits issued for the building so far were those for the outer shell, or the walls and roof. No permits for interior building or utilities have been completed at this time.
The Planning Department believes progress is running behind schedule due to conflicts with the weather. The timetable for completion was originally mid-2015, however it is unclear at this time when Whole Foods plans on cutting the ribbon.
