UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On October 6, Meridian Park commissioners had a kick-off meeting to discuss Towner Park engineering and planning design.
Members asked to get grants for developing the site twice but it ended up unsuccessfully. Without giving up, they learned there is a possibility of sponsorship dollars available with donations to develop the park.
At the meeting, members selected several design groups and updated the site plan. Towner park was acquired by Meridian Park Commissioners not so long ago to satisfy resident's needs in athletic fields.
LuAnn Maisner, the director of Parks and Recreation, quotes "there is a definite need for us to expand out athletic fields and in Haslett community, they are very deficient so this is an opportunity for us to meet the need in Northen portion of our community but also entire township as well."
There will be progress meetings for completing the development of the park through out the year.
