MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Planning Commission met for a work session on Tuesday and heard a presentation about how the Commission could utilize social media in their future communication with the public. The presentation involved using Facebook, Twitter, and even blogs to remain transparent with the residents of the Township.
While social media has become widely used over the past decade, there are some concerns as to how many residents this method of communication will reach.
“”Not everybody is, believe it or not, social media savvy or maybe even, people aren't computer savvy or email savvy,” said Principal Planner Gail Oranchak. “So to get to those people we’ll have to look at different options or the planning commission will have to look at different options.”
Despite the segment of the township that does not use social media, the presentation was still well received and gives some insight on what we might expect from the commission in the near future.
