ORIGINAL STORY:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Rain or shine, Meridian Township firefighters have to be ready for anything. Now, they may have to be ready to move into a new building. The Township Board is currently discussing what to do with the 50-year-old Central Fire Station. The structure has been deemed "out-of-date" and options are being explored by the Township over what to do with it. "There are several options that we are looking at," said Meridian Township Manager, Gerald Richards. "One of the options is tearing down the building and housing its ambulance's at the Public Safety Building with fire support coming from the other two stations." Other options include a costly update for the existing structure or building a completely new Central Fire Station.
