MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP -
The Meridian Downtown Development Authority is planning its 6th annual Celebrate Downtown Okemos event held June 14. The event will be located at the corner of Okemos and Hamilton Road, and is expected to last from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Many local businesses will be sponsoring the event. A few of the top sponsors are Michigan Plumbing who will be sponsoring the main stage. Also Hagfors Marketing Team will be sponsoring the band Global Village and The Power of Water is sponsoring the Toppermost Beatles Tribute Band.

Parks and Recreation Director, LuAnn Maisner said, “We’ve had the addition of a marketing team Hagfors Marketing Team and they have done a outstanding job in fundraising. There’s a small amount of money comes from the DDA budget but a majority of the funds that are making this program happen have come through donations and sponsorships and we’re very fortunate to have money. The more money you have the better you can make the event.”

More than $13,000 have been donated to make this event happen. At the celebration there will be a 5k run, arts and crafts, and fire hose spraying with the Fire Department
