MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Special Use Permit requested by First Housing Corporation to modify studio apartments 25,000 square feet within each other in phase one of the Grange Acres Senior Citizens housing complex has been approved by the Township Board.
At the May 20th meeting, the board supported this motion, 7-0, resulting in a unanimous vote. Trustee John Veenstra added that going forward with this special use is a "no brainer."
Grange Acres Senior Citizens is an independent living community for seniors 62 and older, that offers home ownership in retirement communities and senior apartment rentals. Grange Acres living facilities are subsidized, allowing no minimum income requirement for seniors to qualify.
"I think Grange Acres is very useful in our community, providing housing for low income seniors, so I vigorously support this," said Trustee Veenstra.
Grange Acres is located at 6101 Marsh Rd in Haslett, MI.
